This is what Rajkumar Hirani had to say about Nawazuddin Siddiqui

The Indian film industry and film buffs can’t seem to get enough of Nawazuddin Siddiqui as an actor. However, Rajkumar Hirani admitted in an interactive session, titled ‘Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) Masterclass’, that he never thought that the actor would become such a huge phenomenon.

While talking about a scene in his iconic film, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS‘ (2003), the National Award winning filmmaker spoke of his experience of having worked with the actor, who had done a fleeting role in the film. In the film, Nawazuddin played a pickpocketer who targets Munnabhai’s father (played by the late actor Sunil Dutt), who in turn saves him from public rage. Hirani recalled telling him that he is a very good actor. He also added that he never thought he would become such a huge actor though.

The filmmaker later went on talk about the scene, which he says was an incident that took place with his father.

Nawazuddin is currently in the news for playing the role of the late iconic Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto in the upcoming film release ‘Manto’, which is directed by the actress-filmmaker, Nandita Das. He’ll also be seen in another biopic, ‘Thackeray’, where he plays the late Shiv Sena Supremo, Bala Saheb Thackeray.
