Ajay Devgn to 'Raid' theatres with a real story

He has always balanced intense, hard-hitting cinema with high-octane action thrillers and comedies. So, after packing a mean punch in his upcoming film ‘Baadshaho’, Ajay Devgn is all set to return to a film rooted in reality. The two-time National Award-winning actor will play a no-nonsense income tax officer in ‘Raid’, which will be helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta.

Set in Uttar Pradesh of the 1980s, the movie, produced by Bhushan Kumar and Kumar Mangat, has been scripted by Ritesh Shah (of ‘Pink’ and ‘Airlift’ fame). Scheduled to release

on April 20, 2018, it is based on one of the most high-profile IT raids the country has ever witnessed. The movie will go on floors this September.

Raj Kumar Gupta says, “‘Raid’ is a story that needs to be told on the big screen, and I’m looking forward to working with Ajay on a subject like this.” The filmmaker had earlier helmed ‘No One Killed Jessica’ — based on Delhi’s sensational Jessica Lall murder case — which won both critical and public acclaim. We hear, casting is on for the other characters.
