Corruption, Clinton, & Pee Tapes! Here Are The Biggest Takeaways From James Comey's ABC News Interview!
Sunday night programming has taken on new life for Americans in 2018. If you’re not watching American Idol or The Good Fight, you’re watching a special interview about the moral bankruptcy of Donald Trump.
This week’s edition of the latter featured none other than James Comey, the former FBI director who was fired by POTUS after he failed to drop the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Based on what we already know from his upcoming book, Comey’s thoughts on the President are anything but flattering. But Comey made it clear just how little he thinks of the Commander in Chief in his Sunday night sit-down with ABC News, his first major interview since being fired last May.
Speaking to George Stephanopoulos at his Virginia home, Comey doubled down on his take of Trump being a volatile, immoral, mob boss of a leader who has no regard for law or order.
As for Trump’s request that he drop the FBI’s investigation into Flynn, which POTUS denies ever happened, Comey said “it’s certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice.”
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Read on (below) to see what Comey had to say about the pee tape, Hillary Clinton‘s investigation, and more!
An Immoral Place…
When asked if he thinks Trump is unfit for office, Comey was quick to say yes — because he sees Trump as “morally unfit.”
“A person who sees moral equivalence in Charlottesville, who talks about and treats women like they’re pieces of meat, who lies constantly about matters big and small and insists the American people believe it — that person’s not fit to be president of the United States, on moral grounds.”
Hands off Mueller…
While it seems like Trump can do or say whatever he wants and get away with it, there’s one potential action Comey hopes will sound the legal alarm: if Trump were to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.
“It would I hope set off alarm bells that this is his most serious attack yet on the rule of law. That is higher than all the normal fights about policy.”
About the Pee tape…
Onto more entertaining details, Comey spoke freely about the so-called Steele dossier, which contained the allegation that the Russian government has video of Trump watching prostitutes pee on each other in a Moscow hotel room in 2013.
When Comey first briefed the president-elect on it during the transition, he recalled Trump asking:
“Do I look like a guy who needs hookers?”
LOL, no comment.
On Sunday, Comey said it’s “possible” that the tape exists, revealing:
“I honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I don’t know whether the current president of the United States was with prostitutes peeing on each other in Moscow in 2013. It’s possible, but I don’t know.”
So, what does he know….?
Hillary Clinton supporters far and wide still see Comey as the reason she lost the 2016 election thanks to his handling of the investigation into her use of a private email server.
When asked if he would still send the October 28 letter, which announced the FBI was looking back into the Clinton investigation just days before the election, Comey admitted he may have been influenced by the assumption that she would win.
But looking back, he wouldn’t do anything differently! He shared:
“If I ever start considering whose political fortunes will be affected by a decision, we’re done. We’re just another player in the tribal battle.”
Though Comey did not vote in the election, he said he privately supported Clinton, as did his wife and four daughters. He added:
“I wanted a woman president really badly, and I supported Hillary Clinton. A lot of my friends worked for her. And I was devastated when she lost.”
Which makes his election changing, last minute investigation all the more tragic.
Trump’s camp had the heavy artillery ready to go the day after Comey’s interview — summoning Kellyanne Conway to the airwaves to perform damage control.
But girl seemed to be a bit rusty. During her interview with Good Morning America, Conway appeared to suggest that Comey’s intervention in 2016 is what handed the election to Trump.
See for yourself:
Alas, Conway’s word witchcraft turned out to be stronger than ever. She later claimed that her “swung an election” line was supposed to be sarcastic, tweeting:
This misleading headline should include an eye roll and question mark. Point I made on 3 shows is that we are supposed to believe THIS guy swung an election? I don’t think so. Kellyanne Conway slams Comey: ‘This guy swung an election’ – ABC News https://t.co/f0GdDE6Tvd

Another lesson in Conway rhetoric: put an upwards inflection on a widely-regarded theory and send everyone’s beliefs spinning into chaos.
Maybe we should just skip the headache and watch Idol next week.
