On Monday evening, the A Good Night singer gave an update on how his firstborn is handling their family’s new addition, named Miles Theodore. As you surely know, John and Chrissy welcomed their second child into the world on May 16.
Although little Luna was aware that her mother was pregnant, it seems she’s only just getting that the new arrival means less attention for herself.
At a “For Your Consideration” Emmy event for NBC‘s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, Legend shared with People:
“[Luna’s] used to having us to herself. I think she’s just starting to realize though that he might be competition. So in some ways it’s good because she’s stepping her game up. She’s being more loving, she’s singing louder, and dancing harder. She’s making sure we don’t stop paying attention to her.”
While Luna has some familial things to come to terms with, it’s said that the 39-year-old is confident she’ll get there.
As for himself, he’s going to focus on properly raising a young man in the post Time’s Up / #MeToo era. He continued:
“I think it’s kind of a special privilege for me to raise a young man. I want to try to give him the best advice and be a good man. Particularly right now, a lot of us are trying to figure out how to raise good men in this era when a lot of bad behavior by men is being exposed. We want to make sure we’re raising young men that grow up to be kind and empathetic and emotionally intelligent, and also good leaders and successful in everything they do.
So I’m going to try to do that with [Miles]. I’m going to try to do that with [Luna] as well. But it is a special challenge right now raising a young man.”
Well said — and EXCELLENT advice for parents out there going through something similar.
At the end of the day, we’re glad to see that the Stephens clan is growing and adjusting together!
