Omerta trailer: Rajkummar Rao's stunning transformation into a dangerous terrorist will blow your mind!

If there’s one actor in the industry who’s constantly surprising us with his back-to-back praiseworthy performances in the current times, then it’s hands down Rajkumamr Rao. Be it Trapped, Bareilly Ki Barfi or Newton, the actor has managed to stun us with his commendable performances throughout the year 2017, in not just films, but also the web series Bose: Dead/Alive. Now, Rajkummar is once again all set to blow your mind with his upcoming release titled Omerta

The makers of the film unveiled the Omerta trailer on Wednesday. The Hansal Mehta film brings to light how educated youth is mislead and misguided to become a terrorist in the name of Jihaad. The one minute 49 second trailer takes us through the journey of Ahmed Omar Saeed Shaikh (Rajkummar) – a student in London who goes on to become a deadly terrorist. It all seems to begin with him getting involved in protests, fighting for justice for Muslims in Bosnia.

The film is based on the life of a British-born terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Shaikh. He was freed in exchange for passengers of a hijacked Indian plane back in the year 1999. Later he was accused of murdering the Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002. He’s also supposed to have played a significant role in the kidnapping of foreign tourists in 1994, the attacks of 9/11 at World Trade Centre in the US and 26/11 Mumbai attacks among others.

Glimpses of how Omar goes through a rigorous training and indulges in terrorist activities including the murder of Pearl can be seen in the trailer. Kudos to Hansal Mehta for taking up the story of an antagonist and bringing it to the silver screens. There are parts in the trailer which give it a documentary-like appeal and at the same time, manage to keep you glued to the screen in anticipation of what’s going to come next.

As usual, Rajkummar Rao has left us stunned with his dedication and transformation for his character. The subtle nuances that he brings while playing a complex character are definitely a treat to watch. For example, there’s a scene where his accent changes brilliantly in the middle of the trailer. Now, compare that with his lines in the beginning of the trailer, and you’ll know what we’re talking about.
