Ahead of its Eid release on June 15, the action bonanza Race 3 has been generating buzz across quarters. While the ensemble cast has been making limited publicity appearances, the promotional path they have opted for is not the conventional one. After the star-studded trailer and music launch, we hear that Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Saqib Saleem and Freddy Daruwala have been engaging in special initiatives away from media glare.
Salman, who is known for his humanitarian deeds, also had his co-stars, producer Ramesh Taurani and director Remo D’souza join him in a series of selfless acts. Not only did they divert about Rs 2 crore from the film’s promotional budget towards charity, but they also spent quality time with needy people across the country.
Over the last couple of weeks, the Race 3 team visited various places in India to help old people, cancer patients, women and children with mental health issues and spend some time with them. Like Salman, they kept their visits low-key. We hear that Jacqueline and Bobby visited the NAB Lions’ Home for the elderly visually impaired as part of their special initiative. Anil and Saqib visited the Dr E Borges Home for cancer patients from outside Mumbai who get free treatment from Tata Memorial Hospital. Saqib also accompanied Daisy to The Banyan Tree, a centre for women with mental health issues in Chennai. Daisy, along with Freddy, also visited St. Catherine’s Orphanage in Andheri, Mumbai.
At a time when movie marketing is an important part of filmmaking with a substantial budget allotted, it’s heart-warming to see the Race 3 team spend a portion of it for a noble cause.
