Sanjay Dutt will see his biopic only after its release

The recently-launched trailer of Sanju, the biopic on Sanjay Dutt, has created a huge buzz for the film. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Ranbir Kapoor, it is one of the most anticipated movies this year.

Sources say that the trailer, which is high on emotions and talks about the actor’s tumultuous life, has deeply moved Sanjay. “Right after the trailer’s release, he received a barrage of phone calls in response to his unbelievable life story. Friends and well-wishers were surprised to learn about the lesser-known instances of his life and he turned nostalgic,” adds the source.

Incidentally, not once over the course of Sanju’s filming, did the star ask about the onset progress. Even the script, which was written after the PK director recorded 200 hours of conversation with the actor, wasn’t narrated to him. Hirani is said to have made the film unfiltered, with Sanjay completely trusting the director’s vision.

However, now that the trailer is out, the makers wanted to hold a special screening for the Munnabhai actor, but he refused it. Says the source, “An emotional Sanjay has decided to watch the film only when it releases in theatres. He wants to relive his life as an audience member. There are a lot of instances that he is looking forward to watching, especially the memories with his parents.”
