EVERYBODY has the right to swipe left or right.
According to TMZ, Ariel Hawkins filed a lawsuit against Tinder alleging the dating app unlawfully deleted her account after she changed her profile to mention that she is a “pre-op trans woman.”
Although the Portland-resident received an email saying she violated their terms of service, Hawkins says they didn’t properly explain why she was kicked out.
“I don’t think the company understands trans people and they don’t appreciate how we may represent ourselves.”
Essentially, Hawkins wants the app to (allegedly) stop discriminating against the Oregon trans community.
That same day, a Tinder spokesperson released a statement to TMZ claiming the company does NOT ban anyone based on their gender, as the app offers more than 37 gender options for U.S. users:
“We do not ban users from Tinder due to gender identity… We fundamentally believe that gender is not binary and we support inclusivity and acceptance of all people.”
According to her profile, Hawkins is a “driver at Lyft” and a “camgirl on the side.”
